Since the first time I visited, I loved the beach. While I am not one for laying in the sun or surfing the waves, the quiet times around sunrise and sunset are so wonderful. A beautiful sunset, preferably with those I love by my side, is my idea of bliss. Since we moved to Tybee, you can find me most evenings racing down the walkway to take a photo of the pretty sunset. As I am taking photos of the beach and marsh critters, I sometimes talk to the animals and occasionally I give them names. (Yes, I am weird, but generally nobody else is around so there are no complaints.) These two I named the Doublemint Twins. I think that their pose demonstrates symmetry quite well.

The huge cargo ships that travel the Savannah River impressed me when I first saw them and continue to impress me today. These ships are gigantic. Each of the rectangles on the deck of the ship is a trailer from a semi-truck, giving you some sense of the size of the ship. Seeing them up close and personal gives the best perspective. The second shot of the tug in front of the cargo ship may provide an even better sense of scale. You can see the tug pilot in the cabin.

Last week a flock of white ibises visited my marshy world. They were very agreeable about posing for pictures, so I was able to get quite close and took many photos. I think this shot shows depth pretty well. The birds in front are in focus with the ones in the back blurred.

Living at the beach, I take many beige photos. Here’s one of a little birdie friend. I’d tell you the type….but I haven’t a clue.
The blue heron below seems to be expressing his deep contemplation of the world. His pose emulates Rodin’s “The Thinker. ” Or could it actually be that he is scratching an itch. We’ll never know.
