Cee’s Odd Ball Photo Challenge Week 16: Looking for Love

http://ceenphotography.com/2015/04/19/cees-odd-ball-photo-challenge-2015-week-16/

I spotted this handsome fella when I was looking out the window today.  He is a Carolina Anole (thanks Wikapedia) displaying his bright red dewlap.  I think he was looking for a pretty female.  Ah, Spring is in the air.

Photo Challenge: Blur

https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_photo_challenge/blur/

I was wandering with my camera and I spotted this heron through the trees.  I was trying to creep in closely to get a shot, knowing that if I was noticed my subject would take flight.  The branch blocked my shot as I focused on the bird and made a large blur….but my buddy was in focus.  The pictured survived the cut.  I must have been anticipating this challenge.  : )

Photo Challenge – Shadow

It was early afternoon on Monday.  Sunshine was bright and the sky was clear….a perfect day for casting shadows.

This gull was flying very low to the ground.  Pretty cool how the wings almost touch the sand.

For a little bird…this guy cast a pretty large shadow.

DSC_0264 (2)Around the oyster beds and shells, these two were looking for lunch.  I didn’t really notice at the time I was taking the picture, but the shadows do give depth to the photo.

DSC_0279 (2)When I looked at this flier, I noticed the stripe across his chest.  At first I thought it was just odd coloring, but then I realized that his wing was shading his body.

Hope you like my shadows.

Beach Birds

Today is a beautiful day on Tybee. The breeze is cool, the sky is a vivid blue and the sun is shining for the first time in days. Best of all the herons, seagulls and miscellaneous other birds are about. I wandered with camera. Here are a couple of my favorites from this morning.

Doesn’t this heron seems to be saying, “You dare to approach the Queen!!!” ?

Not the most elegant bird on the ground, but actually pretty impressive in flight.  Say hi to the turkey vulture.

Although I took this one the other morning.  This gull was so gracious about posing, he made the cut.
