It was early afternoon on Monday. Sunshine was bright and the sky was clear….a perfect day for casting shadows.
This gull was flying very low to the ground. Pretty cool how the wings almost touch the sand.
For a little bird…this guy cast a pretty large shadow.
Around the oyster beds and shells, these two were looking for lunch. I didn’t really notice at the time I was taking the picture, but the shadows do give depth to the photo.
When I looked at this flier, I noticed the stripe across his chest. At first I thought it was just odd coloring, but then I realized that his wing was shading his body.
Hope you like my shadows.
For your viewing pleasure….here are some beachy birds.
Blue Heron on the rooftop. He is perched on one foot with his claw in the middle of his stomach…actually a little creepy, if you look close enough.
Close up of a hawk on the walkway….pooh and all.
It was a drizzly and dreary day. The heron reminds me of the wise man on top of the mountain. Do you think I should have asked him about the meaning of life?
I think these guys are ibis (s). They were the closest pictures in the bird book…..Anybody know for sure please correct me.
Yellow isn’t a color that I normally associate with the beach. I thought I would have difficulties finding even one photo for this challenge, but I found several. Let me know your favorite. : )
Not the prettiest photograph, but I think this one conveys the feeling of convergence well. For me it also projects a feeling of serenity, solitude and quietness. A gray beach day and a sense of peace.
Heron in flight against an overcast sky. My version of minimalism.
Today is a beautiful day on Tybee. The breeze is cool, the sky is a vivid blue and the sun is shining for the first time in days. Best of all the herons, seagulls and miscellaneous other birds are about. I wandered with camera. Here are a couple of my favorites from this morning.
Doesn’t this heron seems to be saying, “You dare to approach the Queen!!!” ?
Not the most elegant bird on the ground, but actually pretty impressive in flight. Say hi to the turkey vulture.
Although I took this one the other morning. This gull was so gracious about posing, he made the cut.
