Atop the Fence Post

DP Photo Challenge: Atop

A few days ago this little fellow (a Carolina Anole) was sitting atop the fence post just enjoying the sunshine.  Today he is probably hiding somewhere warm and dreaming about the hot days to come.  Note the weird end of his tail.  If these lizards are threatened, they will allow part of their tail to break off…..I wonder what happened to this poor guy?

Tiny Crabbies in the Swamp

Here are two shots of tiny fiddler crabs that live in the local swamp.  The second picture is a crop/enlargement of the first, so that you can see detail.  Fiddler crabs are  critters that totally fascinate me….I watch them execute what appear to be military maneuvers on the sand and build cities of tubes. They attract various sea birds who eat the crabs. (More photo opportunities for me.)  And, the colors of their shells are so beautiful.

I hope you like my interpretation of the “tiny” theme for this week.

Electric Green

Developing Your Eye 1, Day Nine – A Pop of Color

Let’s go wild today.  I don’t know why but these lizards truly fascinate me.  From my on-line research, they are a kind of chameleon called a Carolina Anole.  I just think they are fun.  Plus this one is bright green and  fulfills the assignment.

Lizard Lovin’

Cee’s Odd Ball Challenge

As I was wandering around, trying to get some bird pictures, I steadied myself with my hand against the walkway.  Lucky me… I missed hitting this couple by a few inches.  Lucky them…I might have interrupted their afternoon of passion.  They didn’t seem to mind my voyeuristic shot.  And, as oddball photos go, I think this is pretty unusual.
