Against all odds a socially-inept coal miner’s daughter from a small town in Northeastern Pennsylvania…married a wonderful, handsome man and went to live on a beautiful and quirky island on the coast of Georgia. She is blessed with family, good friends and a rich life….against the odds.
I thought this was an appropriate shot for this weeks photo challenge. The ibis in the front has a clear and sharp shadow. For the one in the rear, there is no shadow at all. With his upside-down pose and twisted neck….he truly could be saying, “Where’s my shadow?”
4:30 in the morning, as I rose to answer nature’s call, I looked out the window and this is what I saw. I ran down stairs to get my camera and stood on the porch in my nightie and bare feet. While I took several pictures, this is the only one that turned out because I didn’t have a tripod set up. I do think it demonstrates the special ambience of that moon-lite night.
One of the local attractions on Tybee Island, Doc’s Bar is decked out for Christmas. Ownership changed a few years ago and there was a bit of a dust up about naming rights. But it has stayed “Doc’s Bar” and remains a place for visitors and locals to enjoy.
Is he fishing? Or do we have a heron that is a Narcissist?
The pelicans, the gulls and the dolphins all waiting and anticipating a wonderful snack from the fishermen.
Looking in a new direction…being alert to the beauty around me….taking more long walks….visiting and photographing in new places — There is my new horizon.
